"Tru" Love Waits

and waits...and waits...about 25 years!  But it was worth that wait to get my dream Japanese Chin "Truly," aka We-Syng PEMs Truly Scrumptious.  She is also known as Chin-lee, Chin Chin, Turdly, Chin-Meister and "the Perculator". Doesn't matter what you call her.  She either comes, or she doesn't.  But she is an Empress, so dog rules don't apply.

This is Truly...

Update:  Rest in peace my beloved Truly--she passed away on 5/20/2017.  I can hardly look at these photos even though it's been almost a month.)

I could have had a Chin a long time ago, but I had a list of "requirements."  I have known two other champion Chin bitches and they set the standard for me.  All Chins are not alike.  Frankly, some are weird and many of them are ugly.  I gave my long-time friend and well-known Japanese Chin breeder Nanette Wright my list and she really came through!  I also want to thank co-owner Patricia Mushrush for allowing me to have this neat little dog.

In case you are wondering,  I only wanted a small, square, black and white female that could finish her AKC championship with a lovely head and to-die-for personality.  Kind of picky of me, but I did tell her to take her time...we picked her up the day after Christmas last year.

The photo at right shows her fabulous, "typie" head, complete with the white showing in the inside corners of her eyes that "surprised" look that is a vital breed trait.

I have known hundreds of dogs, but this one takes the cake!  She is dainty, yet will play hard with the yorkie until they are both out of breath.  She isn't pushy, but she will let you know when she is getting impatient with the lack of results.  She has only really barked a couple times (while tearing around playing), but she will "talk" to you.  She eats everything in sight, even if it's not food, but will stand forever deciding if she will take the bait while showing her.  Usually puppies get over chewing, but this gal will leave a path of destruction behind her (except she doesn't "do" toys..)

Truly on her way home her first day with us...

She sneaks my husband's foam earplugs, unshelled peanuts from the parrot's cage, chews on battery charger cords, books, magazines, pencils, you name it!  A whole basket of toys ignored though!  Here is the scene of one of her many peanut robberies...

Now she will jump into the box below the cage and steal them.  If I move the peanuts up top, the parrot just tosses them down to her!

This is how she spends the rest of her days...if you can't find her, look for the softest place around!  You may notice a pattern...

On the sofa pillows...

under the bed...

on the throw pillows next to the bed...

in front of the stove in the family room...

not allowed in bedroom dog bed by orders of the yorkie...

at the top of the steps...

on our bed...

on the blanket next to the dog bed...

back on our bed... and finally,

in bed with the yorkie "Carrie"!

My usual view of the TV!

When I first got her, the family joked about her and weren't that thrilled to have another dog.  But she won them over quickly and now they love on her like I do (OK, maybe not as much...)  She will sit in Mark's lap and watch "Ice Road Truckers" with her feet propped up on the chair's arm so she can clean them.  Our dogs don't sleep with us, but I let them watch TV with me.  The yorkie plunks down right away in her "spot."  Truly spends 15 minutes walking around and digging in the bed, then settling for less than perfect comfort.  (She tries for the pillows, but she's not allowed.  Some things have to be sacred!)

Well, it's time for her snack, so I must go...

Until next time...
Gale

  2. Oh, Gale! Such a sweetie you have! You will do obedience with her? I cannot get my little dog to do anything! Then the bait shows up and she runs thru all her tries.
